After much deliberation and input from various respected parties, the Rules Committee of the E-Z-GO Georgia PGA Championship has determined that play will resume on Wednesday, December 9, 2009 and it will indeed become a 36-hole championship.
All scores for round two have been expunged and all scores from the first round will be counted. We will re-pair based on score for those that choose to return to complete the championship. All players that completed round one will soon be receiving a check for $100, and the final payout will be determined according to our normal policies and procedures. Based on the original field of 116 players, we will pay the top 40% of the field which will be the low 46 spots and ties.
Also, a factor to consider is this will now become the last Player of the Year points event, so we encourage you to return to secure your exempt status for next year.
This decision did not come easily, but considering all the factors involved including but certainly not limited to the following:
• Scheduling conflicts for the host facility and the Georgia PGA’s schedule
• Time away from work and family for our PGA members in a slow economy
• Additional travel expenses for our PGA members
• To protect the viability of the Pro-Pro Championship and its’ sponsors interests
The committee felt that this was the best option for our members competing in the Section championship.
We certainly hope that you will be able to not only join us for the completion of the final round at Sea Island’s Retreat Course, but also for our Fall Membership meeting on December 7, and our season ending Traynor Golf Collection Pro-Pro Championship (December 7 & 8) both at Jekyll Island Golf Courses.
